Ever wonder where your favourite television series are filmed. Here is some information which may surprise you.

The Killing: (Fridays at 21:30, M-Net Series)

The dark and mysterious US version of The Killing is set in the dreary-weathered Seattle. But the show is actually shot in Vancouver, Canada which is famed for its dark skies.The producers claim that the location was chosen for logistical reasons but financially it’s a better option than actually shooting in Seattle. "One of the things we learned shooting one city for another is the importance of capturing the spirit of a place versus the literal landmarks," says lead actress, Sarah Linden. "When you live in a city, you don't walk down the tourist section, which is what we see all the time: 'Hey, I live in New York; I'm gonna walk down Times Square'. So it forced us to think, if you live in a place, what do you really do, where do you really go, where do you have conversations and scenes that are not the easy kind of, 'Hey, this is Seattle.' "

CSI Miami:

The detective series may have been set in Miami, but it wasn’t filmed there. Although a few scenes throughout the series were filmed on Florida territory, the bulk of the filming for Horatio and his team was done in Los Angeles. So you know the CSI headquarters, i.e.: "Miami Dade Police Department Crime Lab", that’s actually a studio in California where The O.C. was filmed. The show is usually shot in Long Beach, taking advantage of the town's shoreline views, waterfront homes, palm trees, marinas, and general resemblance to Miami.

New Girl:

The apartment that Jess shares with her three guy friends is located in the arts district of downtown Los Angeles – otherwise known as little Tokyo. Built in 1906, the building (like many in that area ) has been converted into lofts and offices.

Glee:

While Glee takes places at the fictional McKinley High School, the show is actually filmed at three different Los Angeles high schools. The outdoor scenes (such as the football field, cheerleading practice area, and parking lot scenes) are filmed at Juan Cabrillo High School and the indoor scenes (such as the school hallways and the auditorium scenes) are filmed at John Burroughs High. In the latest seasons, they have also filmed outdoor scenes on the campus of the new Bernstein High School in Hollywood.

Switched at Birth (Fridays at 20:30, M-Net Series)

Switched at Birth supposedly takes place in Kansas City, but like the shows listed above, the show is filmed in Southern California. For instance, that big mansion where Bay lives with the Kennish family? That is in Beverly Hills. Built in 1927, on almost three acres of land, the house has nine bedrooms and nine baths. If you are interested, the house is available for rent - for the mere sum of $100,000 a month. And Daphne and Emmett's school, “Carlton School for the Deaf"? That’s not a real school, it’s a business park.

True Blood:

If you’re a die-hard True Blood fan and ever want to walk through the set, make sure you get a ticket to Louisina and California because the show is filmed in both cities. Interior scenes for the bar Fangtasia are filmed at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, California. The exterior shots of Bill’s house were originally filmed at Roseneath Plantation in Louisiana. The plantation is no longer used for filming. The producers had a replica of the mansion built in Malibu. Sookie’s house and Bon Temps’ graveyard are both located in Santa Monica and are used exclusively for outdoor filming. The interior of Sookie’s house is filmed in a studio.
