Feuding judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey seem to have buried the hatchet - and not in each other's backs.

Just a little while after video footage leaked of the two divas trading vicious insults, the crew on the American Idol set said that they had since been treating each other "with respect".

Idol host Ryan Seacrest described the screaming match - recorded during a taping of the reality show’s auditions in North Carolina - as out of control.

“It got heated between Nicki and Mariah," Ryan revealed during his morning radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest.

“It was intense! I'll be honest with you… It went far... It did get intense." In the tape obtained by TMZ, Nicki pointed angrily at Mariah, complaining that she was being “patronised".

“I told them, I’m not f***ing putting up with her f***ing highness over there.”

But according to the website, Nicki and Mariah were “peaceful and professional” the day after the altercation.

Apparently the American Idol cast and crew were “embarrassed” by the confrontation. The leaked tape “shocked everyone back into place”.

But Ryan says he still has high hopes for the judges, and believes that their differences will ultimately benefit the show.

“These are all very different individuals with different perspectives and different opinions that provide for interesting conversation and dialogue and feedback for the contestants," Ryan shared.
