American Horror Story season one was themed "Infidelity" as it had to do with family relations.

This second season is themed Asylum and has to do with, well, all sorts of creepy stuff.

Some of the cast members from season one have made their way back to the series. However unlike many other series, these cast members will play different roles in season two. No need to get confused though, here’s a breakdown and a bit of a catch up from season one. So who is who and who is doing what?

Jessica Lange



In season one she was Constance Langdon, a woman no-one would want to have as a mom or even as a neighbour.

Now, in season two, she plays a nun who wears lingerie and gets hostile towards unwanted guests. Although she shows her belief in God, she’s quite malicious; no one would want to mess up with Sister Jude around.

Zachary Quinto



From a homosexual wannabe dad to a rational psychiatrist; clearly he has a more subtle and grounded role this time round, compared to season one. Zachary Quinto plays Dr Oliver in season two, an experiential thinker who evaluates patients in the asylum.

Evan Peters



In season one Evan played Tate, the young man who fell in love inside the Murder House. But tables have turned in season two, where Evan plays Kit, a new inmate in the asylum. He finds himself accused of allegedly killing his wife yet he only remembers being abducted by aliens.

Frances Conroy



In season one we saw Frances playing Moira, the maid loyal to the Murder House. In season two she's eager to please once again, but we're not sure just what her agenda is.

Lily Rabe


Lily Rabe is also back. In season one, she played a woman in the Murder House named Nora. In season two she is Sister Mary Eunice, a seemingly naïve and simplistic woman.

She is believes in saving the world and she believes that everyone else is really a nice person deep down. Some deeper than most, perhaps, but still! Her ultimate wish and prayer is to transform Sister Jude. But is there more to her than meets the eye?

Sarah Paulson



Paulson played the medium Billie Dean in season one. Things take a turn for the worse for her in season two, when she plays Lana Winters, a lesbian journalist who is wrongfully institutionalised, tortured and confined against her will in a house full of crazies.

And Lana's good character is to severely put to the test when she meets Sister Jude.
